Performance Enhancement Coaching

Everyone is familiar with the concept of ‘the power of positive thinking’. While it seems like a simple concept, it is not really so easy.  If it was easy most everybody would be able to quickly shift into positive thinking mode when necessary to be at the top of their game in performance situations.  This is rarely the case.  High functioning individuals in business, performing and creative arts and sports can suffer the setbacks from situations that challenge their conventional positive thinking and result in less than successful outcomes.  Mental and emotional barriers can get in the way and prevent optimum performance.  Some of these include the following: competitive pressures, fear of failure, performance anxiety before tryouts or auditions, burnout and slumps, psychological recovery from injury, mental recovery after errors, self-doubt after corporate layoffs, self-defeating beliefs, difficulty with attention, lapses in concentration or focus, outside distractions, difficulty managing stress and emotions, and fear. Through performance enhancement coaching these barriers can be recognized, identified and worked through so that your natural talent, skills and strategies can again be realized and performance improved.

As a former college volleyball player and corporate business professional, Ellen understands the performance rigors and expectations of these highly competitive environments and can help you navigate your way through the challenges.  In addition to her private practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker she currently coaches girls’ club volleyball in the Northern Virginia area.
